Automatic litter boxOne of the biggest drawbacks to owning a cat is dealing with messy, smelly litter boxes. Having an automatic litter box simplifies cat care. While they may initially cost more, the money saved on litter and the convenience they provide make the automatic versions worth it.

One kind of automatic litter box is motion sensor operated. After the cat has done its business a mechanism sifts through the litter and deposits waste in an air tight container that can be emptied once full. This system is wonderful because the pet owner never has to touch the waste.

Another kind of automatic litter box “flushes” the box after each use, solid waste is deposited in a container to be emptied and the reusable litter is washed in a disinfecting solution. The advantage to this system is the litter is reusable so money spent on litter is virtually none. Either system makes dealing with the wastes of kitty much less smellier and with a lot less work.
