people birds need a well rounded diet. A bird should not be fed strictly
bird seed. It’s not nutritionally complete and if a bird eats
too much seed they may refuse to eat anything else. Seeds are a treat
that should add a little variety to the bird’s diet.
Pellets are a more nutritionally sound option and can
be given in conjunction with bird seed. Pellets are also less messy.
Bird seed adds a different texture and some additional fiber. Birds
love seeds as a special treat.
Along with pellets and bird seed, birds need fresh fruits
and veggies. Offering a wide variety will encourage the bird to enjoy
many different flavors and keeps mealtime interesting. Sharing a banana
with the bird can be a bonding experience, but work fresh foods in slowly
with the seeds and pellets to allow the bird to adjust.
