While
cats make great pets, they don’t exactly listen like we want them
to. Keeping unwanted cats out of the flower bed and off the counters
can sometimes be a tricky task. When natural options fail commercial
cat repellents can lend a helping hand.
To keep cats out of a garden, flower bed, or sandbox use
an outdoor cat repellent. Some of these products work using motion sensors,
when the sensor is activated they will either spray water or sound an
ultrasonic alarm (audible to cats but not humans.) Organic options include
repellents made from the urine of predators that cats fear like coyotes
and fox.
In the house, keeping a cat off the counters or certain
furniture can be more difficult. Motion detector units can sound an
alarm to scare away violating cats. Double sided adhesive strips designed
to ward off cats work as well, cats hate sticky paws. For cats that
are chewing on plants and cords a great cat repellent is a bitter tasting
spray, one nibble and it’s unlikely they will continue.
