Depending on who you are, a dog squeaky toy is either an easy way to entertain your dog or the most annoying sound you can think of. If you’re a fan of squeaky toys you may cite the love your pet has for them, or the fact that an average two year old makes significantly more noise than even the loudest of these items. If you hate them you are probably a fan of the strong silent type of dog.
Squeaky dog toys operate on a fairly simple principle. They are hollow bits of pliable plastic with a hole bored into them. An air restriction device is put into the hole, and when the toy is compressed, the flow of air through the restrictor produces a high pitched squeak.
Since dogs naturally like to exercise their jaws by chewing on things, a squeaky toy can provide hours of exercise and entertainment for them. Whether or not you can stand being near them when this is occurring is a matter of personal taste. If you prefer silent toys, there are options available to you.
