A fish aquarium is a tank filled with water for keeping live fish. Aquariums most commonly fall into two categories; freshwater and saltwater. Both require a fair amount of set up and maintenance. Aquariums should contain the three forms of filtration; biological, mechanical, and chemical, in order to ensure the water conditions are kept at suitable levels. Artificial lighting systems, and a heater or chiller may be necessary depending on the inhabitants of the aquarium.
In order to have a successful fish aquarium you will have to work at it. Once every one to two weeks, you will need to perform some kind of maintenance on the aquarium. Most of the time, you will be performing water changes. You will also have to feed your fish at least once a day. Observe animals and plants closely for problems. Remove any excess food, dead animals or plants as soon as possible to avoid fouling and disease
